After the downpour

After the downpour
I am dry,
like a sunken ship
left behind by the tide.
I drop like a leaf,
falling calmly,
towards the crunch
I push myself
as deep as a bulb
into the quiet earth.
I prepare to grow up.
Released from the waves
the sun dries the salt
on my clean, warm skin.
